I'm a big fan of novelettes and short stories and reading the summary began this with high hopes - they were well founded.We follow Timmy as his world begins to unravel, or does it? Plans and thoughts of the future are counterpoised by the predictions of a psychic.
I totally felt for Timmy as he tried to balance the two opposing futures, well written and an interesting story - thoroughly enjoyable.

I found this book, If...Blurred, by Jackie Mae, insubstantial, derivative, repetitive and somewhat child-like in its language and structure.Subjects are introduced then dropped with no evidence given of the opinion (or 'fact') expressed being valid. That speaks to paper-thin (and confusing) characterization.The ending is predictable in essence of not in specifics. It has many oddities too. One example the central character makes a huge deal about receiving what he thought was a rude time in a restaurant and vows to leave a tiny tip, only to leave what the writer says was an "appropriate tip." With the venom expressed at the incident, I expected something, sharp, wicked or witty. Nope. We are left to decide whether the tip he thought he'd leave was left or whether the author (or character) just didn't want to give a percentage.If...Blurred reminded me of stories from the forties or fifties in pulp magazines, which is fine, if you pull it off. Ms Mae doesn't here.
Timmy and Shirley Graves have no children and seem to live a life where nothing is wanted for. Timmy is focused on retirement and Shirley is focused on trying to find something to help her escape from reality. Shirley is starting to looking at life in a different light, one without Timmy.
Timmy decides to stop at Miss Pemroy's for a reading. Timmy wanted a 49.99 assurance that all would be fine. . . what he got was 24 hours to live ! He was told he would be talking to a friend and will crash.
After a shock to this "assurance" he did not get, he received another shock of finding many items missing and Shirley was moving out.
Timmy was going to make sure that Shirley received NOTHING of his. . but in the end does it matter ?? Will selfishness get the best of him ??
YEP, another great IF novel ) I have read all 3 back to back and it just leaves me craving and wanting more ! What a selfish man Timmy is . . the motto you can not take it with you when you die ) Great characters and great story ! Buckle up an hang on for all the excitement !!

I received this book to give an honest review. For a novella this book was on point in some areas. If is a major word when you thinking or talking out loud. What if I did this today instead of that, what if I slept in a few minutes more will that affect my day? In this novella we are introduced to the word If and the life of Timothy. He thinks he has it all until one day his world is flipped upside down with this wife wanting more out of her life, he visits a psychic who says he has 24 hours to live make the most of his life, most people would make amends with those they have wrong, told their loves one they loved them one more time heck even eat their favorite foods one more time. Timothy doesn’t do that he doesn’t want to believe it until the end of the story. Only reason I gave this book a 4 rating is I wanted to know what his friend wanted. He kept calling him and he kept ignoring it, it may not seem to be a big deal but I just wonder if maybe his friend had something important to say.
I will be reading book two to see what else this author will give us to think about.
Life is fleeting and things that seem permanent can change in the blink of an eye. That's what happens to Timothy Graves' life. It seems he has carefully planned out his life building a hefty retirement portfolio for him and his wife. After twelve years of marriage, it would not be long before they could enjoy their golden years. From an outsiders view, it would appear they have the life of Riley, but that isn't the case. Timothy and his wife have a childless marriage as they learned early on she could not conceive. They decide not to adopt and resolve to living a life without children devoting themselves instead to earning money for fancy houses, cars, and retirement. Until one day when his world is turned upside down after his wife announces she wants a divorce. You see his wife is not satisfied living the empty life that has become their marriage and goes out and commits adultery with a complete stranger one night. This random and out of character behavior is the catalyst that makes her realize how unhappy she truly is and asks for a divorce. What happens to Timothy when he determines to make his wife pay for ruining his perfect little life caught me completely off guard. I found this novella entertaining and eye-opening. I highly recommend it.
UNEXPECTED ending with UNEXPECTED hot scenes.
Mystery and suspense - twists and turns! I had to resist the urge to skip ahead to find out what happens. Very enjoyable for a quick read on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Enjoyed the story. Relatable and it makes you remember to live each day to its fullest. Definitely recommend this book! Eager to read the second in the series!
